About the Role
Take your aviation passion to the next level as a Design Engineer ! In this advanced role, you’ll contribute to the engineer department, working on groundbreaking projects like the Rotax Legend Cub. You’ll lead the design and engineering of aircraft and components from concept to production, collaborating with a talented team to ensure safety, innovation, and performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesInnovative Design and Development
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and perform structural analyses, including hand calculations and FEA.
- Conduct aerodynamic and performance analysis for aircraft designs.
- Prototype parts, assemblies, and systems, translating designs into reality.
Testing and Documentation
- Lead structural and flight testing, from planning to execution and analysis.
- Develop and maintain aircraft assembly instructions, manuals, and service documentation.
- Document test results and provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions.
Collaboration and Leadership
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, to align designs with production requirements.
- Mentor interns and new engineers, sharing expertise to build team capacity.
Process Improvement and Customer Focus
- Design production concepts with an emphasis on manufacturability.
- Provide technical support for kit builders, ensuring clarity in complex technical concepts.
Qualifications Required Skills and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical, aerospace, or mechanical engineering.
- Aircraft Knowledge: Strong background in structural/mechanical assembly and manufacturing processes.
- CAD Proficiency: Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Familiarity with MS Office Suite and engineering standards.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical concepts clearly.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Proficiency with shop tools and measurement equipment.
- Hands-On Experience: Practical knowledge through hobbies, aircraft construction, or mechanical assembly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experimental Aircraft Experience: Particularly with cub and other fabric type.
- Machining Skills: Familiarity with CNC routers, lathes, and machining tools.
